USA | Western Province Receives First Priests in the Fraternity

Updated: Jun 14, 2019

L to R: Fr. Anthony Garcias, Fr. Jeffrey Keyes, Fr. Vincent Serpa, OP (Promoter of the Priestly Fraternities of St. Dominic), Fr. Christopher Fadok, OP (Socius/Vicar to the Provincial), and Fr. Loren Allen

On 24 October 2018, the Province of the Most Holy Name of Jesus watched history unfold as the first members of its priestly fraternity made their promise in the hands of fr. Christopher Fadok, OP, Vicar of the Prior Provincial, at the St. Albert’s Priory in Oakland, California. In a rite attended by the friars as well as some friends, three diocesan priests donned the habit of St. Dominic: Fr. Anthony Garcias of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles; and Frs. Jeffrey Keyes and Loren Allen of the Diocese of Santa Rosa in California.

It can be recalled that all three came to the same priory in the afternoon of 25 April 2017, in response to the inaugural invitation of the Prior Provincial, fr. Mark Padrez, OP, to discover the gift of the Dominican spirituality in the particular context of the secular priesthood. Now guided by the Provincial Promoter, fr. Vincent Serpa, OP, the Province looks forward to nourishing this initiative, and so share the gift of the spirit of St. Dominic with more members of the secular clergy.
