FRANCE | Three Priests make Profession in the Fraternity Assembly in Lille

Updated: Jun 14, 2019

Fr. Michel Lachenaud, O.P., Prior Provincial, receives the promise of the priests

The Province is witnessing the birth of another fraternity of priests. In addition to the Fraternité Sacerdotale Saint-Augustin, which is based in Paris, the Provincial Promoter fr. François-Dominique Forquin, OP, now accompanies the developing fraternity of the Fraternité Bienheureux Alain De La Roche de Lille.

From October 21 to 25, 2018, the members of both fraternities gathered at the Dominican convent of St. Thomas Aquinas in Lille, where they were welcomed by fr. Michel Malevre, OP, and fr. Thomas-Marie Gillet, OP, who likewise introduced them to the activities of the community, such as the Retraite dans la ville, Théo'Dom, Dom&Go. The days were spent in sharing with the life and prayer of the friars, and a time for communal reflection on the theme of the contemporary crises in the Church.

The gathering was highlighted by a conference and round-table discussion with Prof. Guillaume Cuchet, Paris-Est Créteil, author of the book “Comment notre monde a cessé d'être chrétien”. The assembly also witnessed the temporary promise made by Fr. Matthieu Devred (Diocese of Beauvais) and Fr. Gilles Lherbier (Diocese of the French Armies), and the perpetual promise by Fr. Franck Guerin.
