USA | Province of St. Albert the Great Receives First Priests in the Dominican Fraternity

The pioneer group of diocesan priests in the Dominican Priestly fraternity in the Province of St. Albert the Great

Seven diocesan priests were admitted to the one-year formation program of the Priestly Fraternities of St. Dominic on 27 February 2015 at St. Vincent Ferrer Church in River Forest.  Fr. Louis Morrone, OP, Vicar Provincial, celebrated the Mass and formally admitted them, vesting them with a small white scapular. Fr. Tom McDermott, OP, Provincial Promoter of the Priestly Fraternities, preached. The group will now meet face-to-face or by conference call every six weeks for one year, at which time they will be invited to make final promises.  Then the group will become a formal chapter of the Fraternity.

They are pictured here with Fr. Morrone on the left and Fr. McDermott on the right. Beginning at the second row on the left side: Fathers Gary Blake (Diocese of Peoria), Alan Guanella (LaCrosse), Leoncio Santiago (Chicago), Dennis Paul (Joliet). First row, from left: Fathers Michael Lane (Joliet), Matthew Pratscher (Joliet), John Lovitsch (Joliet).  Also present was Fr. Matthew Strabala, OP, prior of St. Vincent Ferrer Priory.
