PHILIPPINES | Inaugural Meeting with the clergy of the Prelature of Batanes
Updated: Jun 14, 2019
On 26 June 2018, the Provincial Promoter, fr. Florentino Bolo Jr., OP, gave a conference among the clergy of Batanes, together with their bishop Most Rev. Danilo Ulep, DD, on the subject of the Dominican priestly fraternities, namely, the the nature, development and status of fraternities of secular priests in the Order.
The prelature, which had been a long-time territory of the missionary Province of Our Lady of the Rosary, is comprised with a group of islands in the northernmost tip of the country. Even with the definitive conclusion of the friars’ presence in the Prelature, the priests have continued to recognize the strong Dominican tradition among the faithful. Thus, some members of the clergy expressed their intention to make this affinity with the Order formal by taking part in the fraternities of St. Dominic. With the inaugural meeting completed, the eventual establishment of a chapter for the Prelature is something to look forward to for the Province.
