MEXICO | Diocesan Priest makes solemn promise in the Dominican Fraternities
In the Eucharistic celebration presided over by Fr. Gerardo Arias Tenorio, OP, Superior of the House of Santo Domingo de Guzmán in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Fr. Angel Cornejo González of the Archdiocese of Guadalajara made profession in the Priestly Fraternities of St. Dominic.
The occasion took place last year at the Parish of San Miguel del Espíritu Santo, with the Parish Priest, Fr. Juan Manuel Estrada Ochoa and other Dominican friars concelebrating. The rite was witnessed by the contemplative Dominican sisters of the Monastery of Santa Maria de Gracia, as well as the family, relatives and friends of Fr. Angel.
With the help of Fr. Gonzalo Ituarte, OP, former Prior Provincial of the Province of St. James in Mexico, Fr. Angel received the Dominican habit few months earlier. The event likewise took place during the Holy Mass celebrated by Fr. Tenorio, followed by a brief fellowship with those who attended the ceremony.
Fr. Angel is currently working as Adviser of the Lay Dominican Fraternity of the Monastery of Jesus and Mary. He is also part of the Committee for the Cause of Canonization of Fray Antonio Alcalde, OP.
We pray that the family of St. Dominic may continue to grow in Mexico, especially so that more members of the diocesan clergy may experience and share in the spirit and mission of St. Dominic through the Priestly Fraternities.
