SPAIN | 12th Gathering of the Priests with Rite of Admission of Two Priests
Updated: Jun 11, 2019
Coming together once again in the City of Madrid, the priests spent moments of prayer, study and fraternal camaraderie from December 10 to 12, 2018. On the first day, the priests made a memorable visit to the St. Martin de Porres Foundation, a beautiful and impressive initiative of the Dominican friars in Spain, which is dedicated to promote the interest of the most disadvantaged people, namely, the homeless, migrants and unemployed. The visit was also highlighted by a pleasant exchange of ideas and reflections with a group of Hermanos Franciscanos de la Cruz Blanca.
On the following day, the Provincial Promoter shared about liturgy, particularly its place in the Dominican tradition as oriented towards holy preaching, and as a celebration and expression of the Trinitarian Communion in which we enter and from which we are sent to announce the Kingdom of God to all the people. This was followed by a warm and fraternal encounter with the Dominican community at the convent of the Nuestra Señora del Rosario of the missionary Province of Our Lady of the Rosary, then by a celebration of the Eucharist with the friars and their parishioners. Earlier, before the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, the group joyfully welcomed two new priests in the fraternity: Fr. Javier Marquínez Marquínez (Diocese of Terrassa), and Fr. José Ángel Morán Ruíz (Diocese of León).
The assembly concluded with the celebration of the Eucharist on the third day, with the ensuing presentation of a book entitled “Teología de Teresa de Jesús, Doctora de la Iglesia: Una visión sistematizada”, written by Fr. Juan José Llamedo González (Archdiocese of Oviedo), a member of the fraternity, who also shared about the experience of the Catecumenado de Familias.
